Analysis of Neoclassical and Romantic Art Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Analysis of Neoclassical and Romantic Art - Essay Example He mostly worked with historical paintings and portraits. "Portrait of Colonel Guy Johnson" represents the British commissioner of Indian Affairs in the American colony. Next to him is represented a figure with the "peace pipe" in his hand, contrast to the Englishman, holding a gun. In the background we can see a large waterfall, Niagara. In the picture, the figure of the colonel is highlighted, while the aborigine is hidden in the shadow. In this way, the painter contrasts illuminated mind to the civilization located in the darkness of ignorance culture. In general both pictures represent the spirit of â€Å"antiquity†. â€Å""Visions of Antiquity" broadens our understanding of neoclassicism.† (Pagel, D., 1993). The picture of Francisco Goya is definitely a representation of romantic Art. â€Å"In Romantic art, nature—with its uncontrollable power, unpredictability, and potential for cataclysmic extremes—offered an alternative to the ordered world of Enlightenment thought.† (Galitz, K. C., 2000). Comparing two pictures, we can see that they are performed in the same color pattern. The authors mostly use dark background and light items of closing in order to highlight the personalities. In terms of shape, both pictures are presented in two dimensional areas, separating the images of the characters from the surrounding world by the invisible boundaries. Talking about space, the authors used the method of overlap in order to make people on the pictures closer to the viewer. Taking into consideration the art principles, it is necessary to state that the elements of graphic design are expressed in a united and harmonious way. The balance is revealed through the proportional placement of the main elements. The dominance is created by means of the contrasting figures on the first place and the elements behind. Pagel, G. Arab Spring in some states in the Middle East, but why not IRAQ Essay

Arab Spring in some states in the Middle East, but why not IRAQ - Essay Example Other countries such as Syria are also experiencing huge turmoil which could result in the end of its government. But amidst of all of this Iraq has remained relatively quiet. There are various reasons attributed to the absence of mass protests in Iraq. Some experts believe that Iraq is too diverse. It comprises of many minorities and small groups which find it hard to come together and fight against the present government. Cain highlights the problem on the background of Iraqi demographics, â€Å"DEMOGRAPHICALLY, IRAQ IS UNIQUE AMONG MIDDLE EASTERN COUNTRIES AND THE PROFOUND DIFFERENCES WOULD SEEMINGLY MAKE IT EVEN MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO A POPULAR UPRISING. IRAQ ALSO CONTAINS A VAST SEMI-AUTONOMOUS REGION IN THE NORTH THAT IS COMPLETELY CONTROLLED BY THE ETHNIC KURDS AND THE KURDISTAN REGIONAL GOVERNMENT.† At the same time there are others who believe that Arab Spring has touched Iraqi people. The magnitude of demonstrations may have been unthreatening to the U.S. backed Iraqi regime but there were demonstrations none the less. As IslamoPedia, an online platform for exchange of Islamic thought puts it, â€Å"THROUGHOUT 2011, THOUSANDS OF IRAQIS JOINED TOGETHER IN RARE DISPLAYS OF CROSS-SECTARIAN HARMONY ACROSS THE COUNTRY, WITH SHI’ITES, SUNNIS, AND KURDISH CITIZENS DEMANDING IMPROVED LIVING CONDITIONS AND PUBLIC SERVICES, AN END TO CORRUPTION, UNEMPLOYMENT AND INFLATED SALARIES FOR POLITICIANS, ALONG WITH AN END TO FOREIGN OCCUPATION.† The efficacy of such protests is doubted by Iraq Revolt, an independent blog site by Iraqi nationals, which says that â€Å"IT IS DEBATABLE WHETHER OR NOT IRAQ IS EXPERIENCING ITS OWN ‘ARAB SPRING’. IT IS CLEAR THAT MANY OF THE IDEALS ADVOCATED IN THE ARAB SPRING ARE BEING PROTESTED FOR IN IRAQ, IT IS QUESTIONABLE AS TO WHETHER IT WILL RESULT IN A REVOLUTION LIKE IN THE OTHER MENA STATES.† The question that arises is that why the protests haven’t been so

Measuring the reactions of the enzymes catecholase in different levels Lab Report

Measuring the reactions of the enzymes catecholase in different levels of pH in different tempereture - Lab Report Example Temperature rise of about 10oC normally doubles or triples the rate of enzymatic reactions. However beyond the optimum temperature the enzyme activity decreases. If catecholase activity is minimally affected at different temperatures and pH then it can be hypothesized that it has a large range of optimal activity. The aim of this experiment was to test the effect of temperature and pH on the enzymatic activity of catecholase. The effect of catecholase enyme at different temperatures, 0 and 37oC were tested at different levels of pH 2, 4, 7 and 12. Three tubes for each pH were set up and labelled A, B and C. To three tubes in each pH 3ml of the pH solution was added and 2ml of banana extract (substrate). To two tubes 1ml of the enzyme (potato extract) was added while the third tube the enzyme was not added and acted as the control. The test tubes were then shaken and put in the appropriate temperature and the optical density measured after three minutes. The reaction rate was the highest at all temperatures at pH 7. At room temperature the reaction rate was the highest in the tube without the enzyme. pH 4 and 12 had the lowest reaction rates at all temperatures. The reaction rates were highest between 0oC and room temperature in the presence of catecholase and lowest at 0oC without the enzyme. Catechol oxidase (catecholase) is a polyphenol oxidase enzyme present in many plants (Aniszewski et al. 2008). It is responsible for catalysing the reaction between oxygen and hydroxylated benzenes leading to the production of quinines and water. The enzyme mediated reaction rate was the highest at physiological pH and at temperatures between zero and room temperature. This shows that the enzyme has a large range of optimal temperatures. However, it has a narrow range of optimal pH. The narrow pH range during which catecholase activity was the highest is due to the effect of pH on the redox

Managing in organisations - Teams and groups and motivation Assignment

Managing in organisations - Teams and groups and motivation - Assignment Example The organization-provided tasks include certain set of activities that have been assigned to team members. The team members do not simply assigned tasks on wish of any senior manager or on the wish of the team member, but an intensive work is carried out in which certain characteristics are taken into account that establish whether a particular team member possesses the required skills essential for meeting the objectives of assigned task. After developing a role for an individual team member, the senior management or team leader attempts to incorporate the tasks and goals of the individual team member with the aggregate goals and tasks of team. This is the ultimate objective of team building. If there is no connection between team goals and the goals of an individual team member, it would be hard for the team to continue performing and obtaining the desired team objectives. However, it may not denied that the individual members of the team may be performing well and meeting their in dividual tasks and objectives. In the absence of achieving team goals, it would be useless to develop team and work collectively. Teams are built to attain synergistic effect from the aggregate contribution of all team members. The concept of synergy can be defined as an output which is more than the numerical total of units. Keeping this view in mind, team is expected to outperform the aggregate total of their individual performance and output and at the same time, the team is required to establish that the intended team objectives are being served. Team encompasses diversity, team size, personality and team leadership. These are the fundamental aspects normally carried out by team. A team is collection of few individuals who collectively makes up a team. In this team, the presence of diversity cannot be ruled out. This could be in the form of racial diversity, age diversity and so on. Subsequent to that, team size is another factor that influences on the aggregate function of team . There exists no ideal number representing an absolute team size. However, team size is largely built up on the basis of its aggregate team objectives. Simultaneously, the role of personality in team cannot be ruled out. Some personalities are introvert and others are extrovert. Each one has its own strengths and weaknesses that directly or indirectly affect team spirit and team members as well. In the following parts of the paper, a distinction between team and group has been provided along with practical work reflection segment. It is followed by diversity portion. After completing this part, team size part has been included. Subsequent to that, personality segment has been incorporated. After completing team leadership, motivation and intrinsic motivation have been discussed. Before the conclusion part, extrinsic motivation and a collective discussion on both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and rewards have been included. Teams and Groups Team and group are rarely used interc hangeably in organizations. Both have considerable distinction when applied to an organizational context. â€Å"A group can be defined as two or more people who develop interactive relationships and share at least one common goal or issue† (Boyd, 2008, p.190). On the other hand, team can be defined as a composition of two or more persons performing organizationally assigned tasks; sharing one or more common goals; developing and

Analysis of International Business Law Research Paper

Analysis of International Business Law - Research Paper Example Keep in the brain as the situations might alternatively be dissimilar depending on the corporation and the conditions. Join us in our voyage of detection and learn by means of us! Group Law Organization Law container is defined as ordinary law or container law based on accumulated judgment from courtyard cases. Moreover, as there are accountabilities for an agent to main, there are moreover accountabilities for the principal to the manager. In agency law, there are more than a few duties that a manager owes the main. The liabilities of that chief to the agent are; the responsibility of recompense, the duty to repay and cover, and the responsibility of custody financial records (Barnes, 2003, pg. 325). No doubt, the so-called dialogue between civil law and common law was the essential feature of post-World War II proportional law. It was such a novel approach that each of the two participants to the conversation stressed the unifying rudiments inside its own group and the dissimilarity by means of the additional group. Civil law scholars and common law scholars come out as two monoliths (Moens, G & Gillies, P 1997). Various Industry Entities and E-Business Once the kind of industry has been recognized, the proprietor will decide how the commerce will be prearranged, and beneath what kind of arrangement. The kind of structure determined allows the proprietor(s) to decide the penalty that might be faced. For instance, there are just concerning four arrangements to decide from, advantage an extra two that will be considered, and are scheduled underneath: Sole Proprietorship Company Corporation Limited Liability Company (LLC) Franchise E-Commerce. This segment of the document will explain these types of commercial arrangements and the probable legal matters/consequences that the commerce may countenance (Willes, JH & Willes JA 2005). Distinguish Between Civil Law And Common Law Common Law (Judge-made Law) This pecking order does not subsist only in statute laws (Acts of Parliament) but also in common law. The Australian legal system is secret as a common law system. Gibson (2005, p. 7) states that common law is where the judges create a choice on disputes brought before them in the courts. The judges' role is to make decisions to decide disputes. Legal rules are formed from this choice. Common law is unrecorded laws made by judges. The legal reasoning upon which the choice in the case was based is recognized as the Ratio Decidendi. Similar legal reasoning may be used by judges in prospect cases when faced by means of similar facts. It is only the relation decides that can make a compulsory instance. It turns out to be the law. Anything else said concerning the case in the course of a ruling that does not form part of the matters at the subject is called obiter saying. The High Court holds the uppermost position in the courts' system in Australia. as a result, all decisions made in the High Court are compulsory on courts lower than it (Mo, J 2003). Â

Personality Development Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 3

Personality Development - Essay Example Adler developed the concept of the inferiority complex, which impacts on the child’s self-esteem and the harmful physical effects it may have on the person. Sometimes a child’s negative perception of himself may have the opposite effect of superiority as the child seeks to assert himself by compensating on those aspects he perceives himself as capable of. In the case of the child who is acting out, the child may be compensating for a need he lacks satisfaction in. Most likely, the child is seeking attention for which he resorts to behaviour he knows will be met with disciplinary action, but which will at least provide him the attention he craves. One way to assist the child is to give him the attention he needs, but not in a manner that conveys tolerance of misdeeds. The child should be afforded sufficient quality time where he may express his thoughts and ideas, be given guidance, and confront his fears and insecurities. Adler’s techniques alone, as with any body of knowledge, will not be sufficient in working with the client, because there may be different reasons for the child’s acting out, including illness. Each situation should be approached individually and addressed on its own merits, with the theories of Adler employed as a useful guide. According to my MBTI assessment, I am a moderately expressed introvert with a moderately expressed sensing personality. I also have a slightly expressed feeling personality with a moderately expressed judging personality, according to the assessment. By virtue of my profile, I have been classified as an ISFJ personality type. Because the results are mostly moderate, I have no major disagreements with these findings, particularly since, according to the assessment’s linked services, I am suited to a career in education and social services, which are indeed

Object Oriented Databases Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Object Oriented Databases - Research Paper Example This paper has discussed some of the major advantages and disadvantages of object oriented databases in comparison with relational database management systems. An object oriented database stores data and information in the form of objects. Actually, OODBMS stores objects instead of data, such as real numbers, strings and integers. These databases are believed to be very useful for businesses when they have huge data and high performance is required. There are a number of languages that support objects, for instance C++, Java and Smalltalk. In fact, these languages provide an excellent support for modeling, inheritance and creating objects of the data. In addition, OODBMS allow developers to extend the capabilities of the programming languages such as control the consistencies, easy data recovery and improved database features (Rouse 2005, Stajano 1998, Bagui 2003). Basically, OODBMS store data in the form of objects, which consist of attributes and methods. A method is used to graphically demonstrate the objects. Normally, unified modeling language (UML) is used to demonstrate these objects. In addition, data stored in a database have some characteristics, which are called attributes. For instance, a ball is an object and its attributes are its color and its shapes. Similarly, the operations or functions that an object performs on data are called methods. For instance, a doctor performs some actions to check their patients and these actions are known as method (WBT-Master Server Map 2014, Carlsson 2003, Atkinson, et al. 2003). â€Å"A relational database stores data in the form of a set of appropriately defined tables from which data could be reassembled or accessed in a lot of diverse means without reorganizing the database tables† (Stajano 1998). E. F. Codd invented the relational database at IBM in 1970. Additionally, a relational database is a collection of tables holding data fitted into properly arranged groups. Every table (that is sometimes acknowledged
